MBS slide as oil rebounds and corporate bond issuance hits

Mortgage-backed securities fell 5 ticks, while the 10-year Treasury yield rose 2.4 basis points to 4.637%.

Mortgage News Daily reports that bonds reversed course as oil prices bounced after a stretch of trading driven by headline moves in crude.

Despite the bounce in oil, the reaction was limited, with most of the day’s bond-market drama attributed to a large corporate bond announcement before the open.

In rate-sensitive housing markets, MBS were down 5 ticks, or 0.16%, and the 10-year Treasury yield rose 2.4 basis points to 4.637%.

The report also flagged that weekend-adjacent trading remains vulnerable to war-related headline volatility, with the jobs report continuing to be a potential swing factor.
