PowerCompute faces first monthly reset on 307 pledged BTC loan
The Sept. 2 reset uses an 8:00 a.m. EST reference-price check with a $58,860 floor, and a new quote or closeout deadline at 5:00 p.m. EST.
PowerCompute will face its first monthly decision tied to a loan backed by 307 pledged bitcoins on Sept. 2, when the initial 30-day period for its $18.13 million collar loan with Arch Lending ends, according to CryptoSlate.
The structure includes an 8:00 a.m. EST reference-price check against a $58,860 floor and a $66,370 ceiling, with PowerCompute required to either accept a new quote or close out by 5:00 p.m. EST. CryptoSlate reports that the protective floor and ceiling are re-struck from the reset reference price for each new period, and the annual rate is re-quoted.
During the initial period, price and loan to value moves do not trigger a margin call or liquidation, even if bitcoin crosses either strike before Sept. 2, because the collar is tested only at the reset time. CryptoSlate says the setup shifts pressure from daily price moves to a monthly financing choice, with different outcomes depending on where the reference price lands.
If the reference price is below $58,860, PowerCompute may let Arch keep the pledged BTC in full satisfaction of the debt without a deficiency claim, the outlet reports. If the reference price is between $58,860 and $66,370, it can repay the secured obligations, including accrued interest, and recover the collateral, while above $66,370 its upside for the ending period is capped.
