Tesla’s solar unit seeks Fort Bend tax break for large cell plant
The filing asks Fort Bend County for a 10-year property tax limitation for a site spanning more than 3,000 acres near Houston.
ConnectCRE reports that Tesla’s solar battery company has filed with Fort Bend County seeking tax incentives for a potential solar cell manufacturing plant.
The proposed facility would be located near the intersection of FM 1994 and FM 762, not far from Houston, with plans tied to producing photovoltaic solar cells and assembling solar modules.
According to the county submittal cited by ConnectCRE, the project would be used for finished photovoltaic products deployed in utility-scale, commercial, and distributed solar installations.
The application covers five land parcels totaling more than 3,000 acres and requests a 10-year property tax limitation for the site.
