Chinese-led team confirms existence of glueball made of force

A Chinese-led international team has confirmed the existence of the glueball, a rare form of matter made entirely of force, a finding presented by researchers at the International Conference on High Energy Physics in Natal, Brazil, according to SCMP Economy.
Glueballs are theorized to be made of gluons, which act as force carriers that can bind quarks together into larger particles such as protons and neutrons, the outlet said.
SCMP Economy reports the strong force differs from photons in that it allows gluons to attract each other, making glueballs possible, and it notes that evidence for the idea had been elusive for about 50 years.
The Chinese research team shared its evidence during the conference, held every two years, marking a breakthrough in a hypothesis long pursued in high energy physics.
