Bitcoin and ether ETFs post strongest inflows in months
Spot Bitcoin ETFs brought in about $854 million last week, while ETH ETFs added $244 million, and market-rate odds for September swung after weak July jobs data.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in roughly $854 million last week, marking their strongest week since spring and the first genuinely large inflow after an eight-week outflow streak that bled into June and early July, according to Decrypt’s Morning Minute. Ether ETFs saw even larger inflows, with $244 million in net purchases for the week. On a market cap-adjusted basis, that translated to about $1.25 billion in BTC inflows, Decrypt said.
Decrypt noted that the broader backdrop was mixed: crypto earnings from last week were largely positive, but the July jobs report missed expectations. The economy shed 23,000 jobs versus expectations of 80,000 added, with unemployment edging down to 4.1%.
The jobs data contributed to a major shift in interest rate expectations, with odds for a September rate hike falling from 67% to 42%, making it less likely. Decrypt said BTC and ETH were still up only about 2% for the week overall, but ETF inflows signal a potential early turn in the market.
