Canopius names Greg Kuchinski US chief underwriting officer

Kuchinski takes the role effective 9 September 2026, and will report to Sam Harrison while joining the US Executive Committee.

Canopius Group, a specialty and property and casualty re/insurer, announced the appointment of Greg Kuchinski as its US Chief Underwriting Officer, effective 9 September 2026.

Based in New York, Kuchinski will report to Sam Harrison, CUO at Canopius Group, and to incoming Canopius US CEO Nadine Moore, and will join the US Executive Committee in support of the company’s underwriting and growth plans in the US market.

The insurer said Kuchinski brings more than 17 years of experience at AIG, where he most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer, North America Property, responsible for portfolio strategy, profitability, and underwriting growth across a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.

Canopius added that its leadership expects the new hire to strengthen underwriting discipline and execution, with comments from Harrison and Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy Lindsay Astor on helping drive the next phase of Canopius’ US growth strategy.
