China cancels scheduled drone shows nationwide as low-altitude scrutiny tightens

The cancellations extend across 11 provinces and regions, and many organizers cited new airspace controls while others pointed to Typhoon Dolphin.

China has grounded scheduled drone performances at tourist attractions and events across the country as authorities step up scrutiny of low-altitude aviation, with organizers in 11 provinces and regions cancelling shows from Friday onward.

According to notices issued by local attractions and tourism authorities, many cancellations were described as necessary to comply with airspace controls, though the specific new restrictions were often not explained.

By Monday, none of the affected sites had announced that the drone shows would resume.

Some cancellations in places including Guizhou and Zhejiang were attributed to adverse weather linked to Typhoon Dolphin, which made landfall on China’s southeastern coast on Sunday and brought heavy rainfall.
