Fuse launches Financial Institutions Hub for commercial insurance underwriting

The new hub scans state rate filings that are often tagged under generic “other liability” codes and ranks where the financial institutions market is moving based on carrier appetite and economic signals.

Fuse, an AI-powered market intelligence platform for commercial insurance, announced the launch of a new Financial Institutions Hub, its 11th industry vertical.

The hub is designed for brokers, MGAs and carriers that provide coverage to banks, credit unions, asset managers, insurers and fintech companies. It focuses on specialty lines with exposures including directors and officers, crime, fiduciary, bankers professional and cyber.

Fuse said financial institutions do not buy insurance the way many other commercial accounts do, and that the market data needed to underwrite these risks is harder to interpret. According to the company, nearly three out of four financial institutions state rate filings in its database are classified under generic “other liability” codes, with the relevant signal appearing only in lower-level sub-classifications, form language and exclusions.

The Financial Institutions Hub reads the filings directly, then synthesizes them with carrier appetite movement and economic and rate-environment signals into a ranked view of where the financial institutions market is moving and why. Fuse said the hub is available starting today at fuserisk.com, and CEO Sean Bourgeois said the challenge is not access to public data, but synthesis of what it means.
