Gencom reorganizes into Gencom Capital and Gencom Real Estate
The split will place capital markets and portfolio management under Gencom Capital, while Gencom Real Estate will oversee development, construction and asset management.
Real estate investment firm Gencom is reorganizing into two business lines, Gencom Capital and Gencom Real Estate, to align leadership, hiring, and accountability with its investment and operating functions, according to Commercial Observer. Gencom, which has $8 billion in assets under management, said the reorganization is intended to strengthen its leadership team as it grows. The firm operates up to 6,000 hotel rooms nationwide across brands including Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood, Auberge Resorts Collection, Fairmont, Hyatt, and Marriott. Gencom Capital will be led by Chief Investment Officer Alessandro Colantonio, overseeing capital markets, portfolio management, and capital allocation. Gencom also promoted Ignasi Puig to managing director for acquisitions and investments, Peter Trujillo for corporate investments, and Blythe Pierre-Louis for special situations. On the operating side, Donald McGregor was promoted to president of Gencom Real Estate, where he will oversee development, construction, and asset management. Gencom Real Estate leadership also includes Shaun Johnston, promoted to head of portfolio finance and accounting, and the hiring of Jake Lynch as senior vice president of asset management.
