Markel Insurance appoints Doan Nguyen to lead London Specialty unit
Nguyen takes over from Tom Hillier and will oversee Specialty lines including trade credit, political risk and surety, and political violence and terror.
Markel Insurance, the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc., appointed Doan Nguyen as Managing Director of its Specialty of London Market operation, effective immediately, according to Reinsurance News.
Nguyen succeeds Tom Hillier, who was named Chief Underwriting Officer for Markel International earlier this year. Based in London, she reports to Rohan Davies, Managing Director of London Market, Markel International.
In the role, Nguyen will lead Markel’s Specialty division in London, setting strategic direction and supporting profitable growth across segments including trade credit, political risk and surety, equine and livestock, international casualty, structured portfolio solutions, and political violence and terror.
The appointment also follows recent London Market leadership changes at Markel, including Dan McCarthy as Managing Director of Marine, Energy & Construction and Bhavik Desai as Managing Director of PFR & Cyber. Reinsurance News says Nguyen previously served as Global Head of Portfolio Solutions at Allianz Commercial, where she spent more than 12 years.
