XRP slips as US Digital Assets Market Clarity Act timeline drags
XRP is trading around $1.0282, down 4.96% over the past week, as lawmakers pushed the key vote to September 15.
XRP is continuing to underperform the broader crypto market, pinned in a so-called death cross formation and moving like the “clarity trade” is being unwound, according to Decrypt. The outlet said XRP has spent the past several weeks rising less when other tokens gain and falling harder when they drop.
Much of the focus is on the delayed US Digital Assets Market Clarity Act, which Decrypt said would be the first formal legal framework for crypto assets in the United States. The law, if passed, would classify XRP as a digital commodity and reduce regulatory ambiguity that the outlet said has weighed on institutional demand.
Decrypt added that the Senate missed a vote before the August recess, but Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture late last week, setting up a procedural vote for September 15. The bill would still need 60 votes to clear a filibuster, and analysts cited by the outlet described its 2026 odds as a long shot.
Market performance over the past week shows the gap, Decrypt reported. XRP was the worst performer among the top 10 by market cap at -4.96%, while Solana gained 3.64% and Bitcoin rose 1.17% over the same stretch, with XRP also down 1.24% on the day.
