Crescent Rice Mill in Kano commissioned with 400 tonnes per day capacity
The project also launched a 240 tonnes per month bag manufacturing plant to support rice packaging, with commissioning held July 29.
A rice mill in Kano, Nigeria, has been commissioned with designed production capacity of 400 tonnes per day, according to Nigeria-based media outlet BusinessDay.
The facility, operated by BlackHorse Holding Co. Ltd. subsidiary Crescent Rice Mill Ltd., was initially set up in 2024 with commercial production at 80 tonnes per day. Output was increased to 240 tonnes per day in 2025 by adding two more production lines before reaching the final 400 tonnes per day phase.
BusinessDay also reported that Aminchi Bags Ltd., a 240 tonnes per month sack manufacturing plant, was launched alongside the mill to create a vertically integrated model for consistent rice packaging, which the company said can also serve external customers.
At a July 29 commissioning ceremony, stakeholders and financial institution partners joined government officials and local business leaders. BlackHorse CEO Muhammad Sani Utai said the company plans to expand daily rice capacity beyond 500 tonnes per day and add processing diversification, including a groundnut and sorghum oil mill, while the capital investment for the project was not disclosed.
