Only six commodity vessels cross Strait of Hormuz on Monday
Traffic fell to the lowest level in more than two months, with security concerns and renewed threats weighing on tanker and LNG movement.
OilPrice reports that vessel traffic at the Strait of Hormuz continued to decline as hopes for a U.S.-Iran deal faded again.
On Monday, only six commodity vessels transited the strait in either direction, down from an 11-ship average over the latest 10-day period, based on shipping data from Kpler cited by Reuters.
Of the Monday transits, four commodity vessels moved inbound into the Persian Gulf via the Strait, including two empty product tankers, as well as a small LNG carrier and a tanker carrying shipping residual fuel that exited outbound en route to buyers.
OilPrice also noted that traffic at the nearby Bab el-Mandeb chokepoint remained about unchanged versus the 10-day average, while Hormuz activity has slumped to a more than two-month low amid intensifying security concerns following attacks and ongoing threats to shipping in the region.
