Alibaba launches paid QwenWork tiers in Qwen app
Annual memberships range from 200 yuan, about US$29.6, to 1,499 yuan, and users can also buy video generation credits.
Alibaba Group Holding has started charging for its QwenWork office assistant through membership tiers in its Qwen app, as it tests whether businesses and consumers are willing to pay for the AI service, according to SCMP Economy.
The Apple App Store listing shows three annual membership options, from 200 yuan, about US$29.6, to 1,499 yuan for the flagship version. It also offers add-on video generation credits priced between 26 yuan and 968 yuan, depending on usage limits.
SCMP Economy reports the move follows Alibaba opening public testing earlier this month for QwenWork, initially offering the productivity AI agent free of charge to accelerate adoption. The Qwen chatbot remains free to use.
Alibaba did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday, SCMP Economy said.
