Retail investors turn net sellers of SpaceX shares for first time
Individual investors sold a net $4.5 million of SpaceX on Friday, while the stock reclaimed its IPO price of $135 on Monday.
Stocks were little changed early Monday as investors looked ahead to key inflation data and upcoming earnings, according to a market wrap from Yahoo Finance.
Oil prices rose, with US benchmark WTI crude oil futures trading above $80 per barrel, while the energy sector led broader gains and technology was roughly flat.
Within tech, hardware names gained while semiconductor makers and consumer electronics providers were under pressure, and Yahoo Finance highlighted high viewer interest in SpaceX, Intel, Supermicro, Arm, and CrowdStrike.
The retail investor tide may be shifting for SpaceX, with Reuters citing Vanda Research data showing individual investors became net sellers for the first time on Friday, dumping a net $4.5 million in SpaceX shares. Yahoo Finance also noted SpaceX previously saw retail interest remain strong after its June 12 public listing, and on Monday the stock turned higher, reclaiming its $135 IPO price for the first time since July 15.
