ACORD names new CEO as Church Mutual adds a board member

ACORD’s incoming chief will focus on how data moves between systems, while Church Mutual is expanding its board with a former Nationwide risk and finance leader.

Insurance Business reports that ACORD has named John Kellington as its new chief executive, succeeding Bill Pieroni, who left the standards-setting organization in April 2025 to join DXC Technology. Kellington previously spent three years at ACORD as senior vice president of standards development from 2007 to 2010, then served 16 years as chief information officer at Cincinnati Insurance, where it built its technology operations around ACORD’s architecture model.

The outlet reports that ACORD described Kellington as well suited for the role because of his experience both building and implementing data standards, with ACORD board chair Robert Kelly citing the candidate’s ability to advance the organization’s mission. Kellington said the industry’s progress increasingly depends on how effectively data moves between systems, and he positioned the standards body as central to that effort.

Insurance Business also notes that Church Mutual Insurance added Elizabeth Riczko to its board of directors, where she will serve on the investment and audit committees. The insurer said Riczko spent more than three decades at Nationwide in senior finance and risk roles, including corporate chief risk officer, and Church Mutual CEO Alan Ogilvie said her cross-functional background will support board discussions as the carrier operates in a more complex environment.
