CCTV launches 12-part Jiang Zemin documentary ahead of centenary
The centenary events are set to culminate Monday with a grand ceremony presided over by President Xi Jinping, according to coverage of the planned program.
Beijing has begun airing a major state-backed documentary on former Chinese president Jiang Zemin as the country marks the centenary of his birth, with the commemoration expected to culminate on Monday under President Xi Jinping, according to SCMP Economy.
SCMP Economy reports that CCTV launched the 12-episode series titled Jiang Zemin, with the flagship CCTV-1 airing two episodes nightly at prime time from Tuesday.
The party is also expected to hold a grand symposium at the Great Hall of the People on Monday, following past political norms, and Xi is expected to deliver a commemorative speech.
SCMP Economy says top leadership bodies and senior party and state organizations, including the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, are expected to attend the Monday gathering.
