Tata Group stocks fall after Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran quits
Shares of TCS, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, and other Tata firms slid after reports said Chandrasekaran resigned as Tata Sons chairman six months early, with his term ending Feb 20, 2027.
LiveMint Markets reports Tata Group stocks fell in Wednesday trading after news emerged that Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran had resigned.
The sell-off hit multiple listed Tata companies, including TCS down 5%, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles down 4%, Tata Consumer Products down 3%, Tata Steel down 2%, and Titan down 2%.
Chandrasekaran’s resignation comes ahead of Tata Sons’ annual general meeting scheduled for August 18, according to the report, and the top executive will reportedly complete his current term without seeking reappointment.
The article adds that the proposal for a third term was deferred in February, and it notes Chandrasekaran’s current tenure as chairman runs through Feb 20, 2027.
