Canopius appoints Greg Kuchinski as U.S. chief underwriting officer

Kuchinski will start the role on Sept. 9, 2026, joining Canopius’ U.S. Executive Committee and reporting to Sam Harrison.

Canopius Group has appointed Greg Kuchinski as its U.S. chief underwriting officer, effective Sept. 9, 2026, according to Risk & Insurance.

Kuchinski joins Canopius from AIG, where he most recently served as chief underwriting officer for North America Property, overseeing portfolio strategy, profitability, and underwriting growth across a multi-billion-dollar portfolio. His earlier AIG roles included leadership across retail property, large limits underwriting, and energy and engineering risks.

In his new position, which is based in New York, Kuchinski will report to Sam Harrison, Canopius Group CUO, and to incoming Canopius U.S. CEO Nadine Moore. He is also expected to join the U.S. Executive Committee to support Canopius’ growth and underwriting execution.

Separately, Risk & Insurance cited additional industry survey work and research themes, including risk concerns among senior insurance leaders tied to adverse AI outcomes and geoeconomic disruptions, and discussion of whether customers view insurers as benefiting more from AI than they do.
