Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) opens first mainland China branch in Shenzhen

The Shenzhen Qianhai branch is designed to serve corporate banking needs for cross-border financing as foreign lenders compete across the Greater Bay Area.

Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) has opened its first branch outside its home market, moving into mainland China with a new location in Shenzhen, in the Qianhai financial zone, according to SCMP Economy.

The bank said the Greater Bay Area is a wealthy and fast-growing region with industry leaders and enterprises, and framed the expansion as a way to tap cross-border business opportunities.

SCMP Economy reports that the bank will initially focus on corporate banking and tailor cross-border financing for technology firms as competition among foreign lenders in the Greater Bay Area intensifies.

Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) is a wholly owned unit of Fubon Financial Holding, a Taipei-based financial conglomerate, SCMP Economy added, citing the group’s position among Taiwan’s largest financial firms.
