Houston CRE firms turn to contractor collectives to scale
Industry research cited by Bisnow says more than 60% of commercial real estate firms have considered outsourcing operational capabilities in recent years.
A new women-founded collective in Houston is targeting commercial real estate firms that need lower-cost contract marketing, consulting, and related services as they expand and look to scale, according to Bisnow.
Bisnow reports that more than 60% of commercial real estate firms have considered outsourcing operational capabilities in recent years, citing Deloitte. The article also points to Houston-area firms including SVN | J. Beard Real Estate that have used contractors such as Elke Laughlin, a founding member of Creva Collective, as they pursue new opportunities.
The collective was founded by Laughlin along with four other women, including Crissy Nolen, the former chief marketing officer for Colliers Houston. Bisnow says each founder brings different expertise so clients can be referred to the right specialist as needs change, with skills spanning areas like certified public accounting and construction communications.
Bisnow adds that the founders plan to expand the collective by adding more independent contractors to help service the Houston commercial real estate industry, arguing that growing firms may not be able to afford building a full internal staffing structure across departments.
