Madewell signs lease for new store at 1 Rockefeller Plaza
The retailer will take a 7,340-square-foot space at the Midtown landmark, with plans to open in 2027.
Madewell will open a new store at Tishman Speyer's 1 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown, the landlord announced. The retailer signed a 7,340-square-foot lease at the 34-story office, dining and shopping center, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
The asking rent and the lease term were not disclosed. CBRE data cited in the announcement shows the average asking rent for retail space in the Midtown Plaza District was $2,540 per square foot during the second quarter of 2026.
Newmark brokered the deal for Madewell, while Tishman Speyer represented itself in-house. Built in 1937, 1 Rockefeller Plaza sits between West 48th and West 49th streets, and includes tenants such as Chimera Investment Corporation and Ulysses Management, along with a ground-floor location for Alex Mill.
Madewell said the location at Rockefeller Center is a milestone for the brand, and it will mark its eighth New York City store. Tishman Speyer also said the center continues to attract brands shaped by cultural and consumer behavior trends.
