UBS increases Bitcoin ETF stake via BlackRock iShares trust
UBS’s position totals more than $83 million across 2.5 million shares, according to a US SEC filing cited by Bitcoin Magazine.
UBS, Switzerland’s largest bank, has increased its exposure to Bitcoin through BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, according to regulatory filings highlighted by Bitcoin Magazine.
The report says UBS bought additional shares in the ETF, bringing its total position to over $83 million across 2.5 million shares, and it has been gradually raising its allocation since BlackRock’s fund was approved in 2024.
Bitcoin ETFs such as BlackRock’s IBIT allow investors to gain Bitcoin exposure without holding the cryptocurrency directly, after the US SEC approved a series of spot Bitcoin funds in January 2024.
Bitcoin Magazine also notes the filing shows UBS holds additional Bitcoin-related ETF exposure of around $90 million in total, plus an investment in American Bitcoin Corp. valued at a little under $1.5 million.
