Amwins plans 15-story Charlotte office tower at former Sharon Station site

The global insurance company says the $39 million project would allow it to move more than 500 employees into the building before the end of 2028, with construction expected to take 24 to 30 months.

Amwins Group plans to develop a new 15-story office tower at the former Sharon Station site on Sharon Road in Charlotte, a project the company says should cost $39 million, according to ConnectCRE.

The planned building will total 250,000 square feet and include nine office floors above six parking levels, with a lobby and about 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, ConnectCRE reported.

Construction is expected to take 24 to 30 months, and Amwins aims to begin moving its more than 500 employees into the space before the end of 2028. The company initially plans to occupy seven of the nine office floors to leave room for future expansion.

Amwins currently occupies about 106,000 square feet across six floors at Two Piedmont Town Center, about a mile from the project site, and its lease there expires in November 2028. Keith Corp is developing the tower, Brasfield & Gorrie will serve as the lead contractor, and Thrift Commercial Real Estate Services will handle retail leasing, ConnectCRE said.
