Bank Leumi to launch Bitcoin trading with Galaxy Digital in early 2027

The Israeli lender plans to let customers buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin directly through its PEPPER mobile banking app, with additional cryptocurrency trading also planned.

Bank Leumi, Israel’s largest bank, said it will become the first lender in the country to offer customers Bitcoin trading, partnering with Galaxy Digital for the service.

The initiative is expected to roll out in early 2027, after Bank Leumi first announced similar plans in 2022 but shelved them.

Bank Leumi will use GalaxyOne Institutional, Galaxy’s institutional platform for banks, asset managers, and other institutions, to deliver trading and related services.

The bank said its PEPPER mobile banking app will provide the Bitcoin offering, enabling customers to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin directly, and it also plans to support trading other cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin, according to statements cited in the announcement.
