Bitcoin falls to its lowest level since Aug. 3 amid spot ETF outflows
Spot bitcoin ETFs logged $192 million in back-to-back outflows, and derivatives signals showed shorts being added as price slid below $63,000.
Bitcoin slipped to its lowest level since Aug. 3, trading below $63,000 and losing 1.1% since midnight UTC, as bearish signals increased even when some U.S. equities moved higher after cooler producer prices. CoinDesk reports spot bitcoin ETFs recorded $192 million in back-to-back outflows for the first time since late July, marking the first two sessions of withdrawals after bitcoin wiped out last week’s rally. Ether also fell, down about 0.7% since midnight UTC to around $1,876.57. While some altcoins outperformed, derivatives and funding data indicated growing bearish positioning in tokens including bitcoin cash and hedera. The article notes that bitcoin volatility eased, with 30-day implied volatility cooling, while options and open interest signals were mixed. CoinDesk also pointed to short buildup indicators, including a negative 24-hour open-interest adjusted cumulative volume delta, and deeply negative annualized funding rates in tokens such as hedera. It added that all of the top 25 coins showed negative CVD, suggesting shorts were trading more aggressively as the market priced in potential downside.
