Bitcoin slips below $63,000 as oil rises and bond yields climb
WTI crude pushed above $82 a barrel, while U.S. 30-year Treasury yields hit 5.22%, the highest since 2001.
Bitcoin moved lower, slipping below $63,000 as oil prices rose and bond yields climbed, weighing on broader risk sentiment, according to CoinDesk’s live updates.
The outlet cited WTI crude topping $82 a barrel, a development that can add inflation pressure and support higher yields.
CoinDesk also pointed to rising rates as a factor, noting that a U.S. 30-year Treasury bond auction on Thursday drew a 5.22% yield, the highest since 5.52% in August 2001.
In the same update, CoinDesk said U.S. retail sales in July came in soft, with retail sales falling 0.6% and ex-autos down 0.3%, although it reported little immediate market reaction at the time.
