Hong Kong gets 16,000 consultation submissions for first five-year plan
The government said it will use AI to analyze the submissions, and expects to deliver the blueprint next month with binding and predictive targets.
Hong Kong authorities received more than 16,000 public submissions for the city’s first five-year plan after the consultation closed on Friday, according to the SCMP Economy. Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Janice Tse Siu-wa said the collected views generally backed a more focused approach to integrating with national development and cultivating emerging sectors. Tse described the blueprint, set to be delivered next month, as a milestone in public administration, noting that it would include binding and predictive targets similar to the structure of China’s 15th five-year plan. She added that officials used artificial intelligence to analyze the submissions before summarizing the overall feedback. The secretary said the public support included promoting Hong Kong’s “four centres and one hub” positioning and calls for the city to focus on emerging sectors with strategic value, leveraging its professional services strengths. She also said respondents urged Hong Kong to reinforce its status as an international Renminbi business hub by expanding yuan products and further developing a commodity trading ecosystem.
