Westfield Specialty premium growth accelerates in first half of 2026

Gross written premium rose to $1.18 billion in H1 2026, while the company reported a 94.3% combined ratio for the period.

Westfield Specialty reported gross written premium of $1.18 billion for the first half of 2026, up 25% year over year, alongside a 94.3% combined ratio. For the second quarter, GWP climbed 20% year over year to $622 million, with a 93.3% combined ratio.

The insurer said its Specialty US platform, including surety, generated $642 million in GWP, up 26% year over year, with a 93.7% combined ratio. Westfield attributed the performance to strong new-business momentum and broad-based growth, partially offset by disciplined underwriting actions in more competitive market segments.

In specialty international, Westfield posted a 23% year-over-year increase in GWP to $540 million and a 94.8% combined ratio for H1 2026. The company linked growth to platform diversification, investment in underwriting talent, stronger broker engagement, and increased contributions from recently established capabilities.

Westfield also pointed to operating leverage and focused expense management as supporting profitable growth. Jack Kuhn, President of Westfield Specialty, said the company is seeing benefits from investments made across the portfolio.
