Cyberport completes expansion, adding space for AI and co-working
The phase 5 project, funded under Hong Kong’s 2019 policy address, added 8,600 square metres of Tier-III+ data center capacity by completing in June.
Hong Kong’s fintech hub Cyberport has completed its fifth-phase expansion, adding 66,000 square metres of space at its headquarters in Pok Fu Lam, according to its chairman, Simon Chan Sai-ming.
Chan said the project includes a 10-storey tower with 1.6 hectares of waterfront development, delivering about half of the new area, or 36,000 square metres, for offices and co-working, as well as 8,600 square metres for a Tier-III+ data centre that supports the hub’s AI supercomputing facilities.
He added that the new office and co-working space is already about half leased, with tenants including Lenovo and BrainCo, a Brain-computer interface firm that is part of Hangzhou’s “Six Little Dragons” tech cluster.
Cyberport’s chairman said the phase 5 project was allocated HK$5.5 billion, or about US$700.9 million, in Hong Kong’s 2019 policy address, and the work was completed in June this year.
