Bitcoin steadies near $63,000 as spot ETF outflows weigh on sentiment
CoinDesk data show U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs logged four straight days of outflows, totaling a net $390 million last week, the largest weekly withdrawal in six weeks.
Bitcoin held around the $63,000 level on Monday, gaining about 0.8% since midnight UTC, while U.S. equity futures also rose, suggesting the largest cryptocurrency was trading in step with broader risk sentiment, according to CoinDesk’s market data.
Still, sentiment in crypto remained pressured by fund flows. U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs recorded four days of outflows last week, for a net $390 million withdrawal, the largest weekly outflow in six weeks, the outlet said.
CoinDesk also pointed to diverging flows across crypto products, with Solana ETFs bucking the trend and posting their strongest weekly inflows since May. Ether ETF flows were described as more limited, while the Altcoin Season Index at 46 indicated altcoin strength recovering from an Aug. 7 low.
A key uncertainty highlighted by CoinDesk was the timing and odds of the Clarity Act. Galaxy Digital’s Alex Thorn cut his 2026 odds on the bill becoming law to roughly 10% on Aug. 14, down from 75% in May, and a Senate cloture vote was scheduled for Sept. 15 when lawmakers return from recess, though observers expect another delay.
