The new term runs from March 1, 2027 through February 28, 2030, according to an HKEX filing, as the exchange pushes to bolster its international competitiveness.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has extended the tenure of CEO Bonnie Chan Yiting by three more years, as the exchange operator works to strengthen its international competitiveness, according to an HKEX filing covered by SCMP Economy. Chan’s renewed term is set to run from March 1, 2027 to February 28, 2030. She is 57, and SCMP Economy notes she is the first woman to lead the city’s exchange operator.
In a statement posted online, HKEX chairman Carlson Tong said Chan has led the group with a focus on strengthening Hong Kong’s role as an international financial center and building a multi-asset ecosystem that connects capital between China and the world. Tong added that under Chan’s leadership, HKEX has expanded its business footprint, evolved its listing framework, and delivered upgrades to its technology infrastructure and market microstructure to improve competitiveness and fit for purpose.
SCMP Economy also said Charles Li Xiaojia served as the longest-serving HKEX CEO, holding the role for 11 years from 2010 to 2021.
