Reliance shares trade volatile after Rolls-Royce AMCA engine deal
Reliance stock hit an intraday low of ₹1,299 and had fallen more than 16% year to date despite analysts citing potential long-term catalysts.
Reliance Industries shares were volatile on the BSE on Monday, 17 August, swinging between an intraday high of ₹1,318.90 and an intraday low of ₹1,299. Around 1:35 PM, the stock was up 0.8% to ₹1,318.60, after opening at ₹1,312.95 versus its previous close of ₹1,308.
The move came after Reliance and Rolls-Royce announced on Friday, 14 August that they will collaborate to develop a sovereign combat aircraft engine for India’s AMCA programme. The companies said they will explore setting up an Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex in India.
LiveMint Markets also noted that Reliance shares had declined nearly 2% last week and were about 0.5% higher so far in August. Year to date, the stock is down over 16%, after hitting a 52-week low of ₹1,250.55 on 24 July and a 52-week high of ₹1,611.20 on 5 January.
The article added that Reliance reported Q1FY27 results earlier in July, with revenue from operations rising 25.4% year on year to ₹311,850 crore and consolidated EBITDA up 10.1% year on year to ₹54,067 crore. It cited analyst commentary that the quarter was largely in line with expectations and pointed to longer-term drivers including Jio’s digital ecosystem expansion, retail scaling, and planned Jio Platforms IPO, alongside investments in solar manufacturing, battery technology, and green hydrogen.
