SpaceX stock jumps as filings reveal top shareholders

Disclosures show just 23 investors hold over 80% of reported SpaceX shares, while nearly 1,340 smaller holders together own less than 1%.

SpaceX shares surged more than 5% on Monday as newly available filings lifted the curtain on who owns the company after its IPO, according to a Yahoo Finance “Chart of the Day” analysis. The disclosures include more than 1,500 investors with reported stakes in SpaceX, marking the first broad view of ownership since the company went public on June 12.

The ownership data also points to heavy concentration. More than 23 investors account for over 80% of the reported shares, while nearly 1,340 investors reporting fewer than 100,000 shares together hold less than 1% of the shares.

Alphabet led disclosed positions with more than 551 million SpaceX shares, while Fidelity reported more than 302 million. Gigafund, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, and Nvidia each disclosed more than 100 million shares, the outlet noted, with Fidelity’s total reflecting stock held across its managed funds and accounts rather than a single bet.

The report also highlights that some positions appear for the first time in public quarterly disclosures now that SpaceX trades on an exchange, as early shareholders faced restrictions from selling right after the IPO. Those lockup limits are expiring in stages, and Yahoo Finance said roughly 912 million shares became eligible earlier this month.
