Amazon MGM plans Berkshire studio expansion, targeting 920 jobs
The project would add six new sound stages and a multi-storey car park at Bray Film Studios.
Amazon MGM Studios plans to expand Bray Film Studios in Water Oakley near Windsor, describing the buildout as a way to unlock the site’s full potential. BBC Business reports that the proposals include adding six new sound stages and constructing a multi-storey car park.
The British Film Commission said it views the expansion as a boost for filmmaking and welcomed Amazon MGM’s ambition to support employment in the local community and more broadly across the UK sector. Bray Studios had previously been used by Hammer Films.
Amazon MGM has used the site since 2022, and the prior owner received planning permission to expand it in 2022. Amazon MGM bought the site in 2024, and a public consultation about the expansion closed in May.
The expansion is expected to create 470 jobs during construction and 920 jobs across Berkshire more widely, according to BBC Business. The BFC’s head of production, Samantha Perahia, told a local council that the enhancements would help the region build on its existing reputation with international clients.
