Bitcoin holds near $64,000 as yields and oil weaken risk appetite
BTC is down 0.6% since midnight UTC, while Brent crude rebounds to about $94 a barrel after a 60-day U.S.-Iran ceasefire expired without a deal.
Bitcoin was trading around the $64,000 level after retracing Monday’s rally from roughly $62,600 to $64,600, with CoinDesk reporting the largest cryptocurrency paused at about $64,177.6.
The pullback tracked a broader risk-off move in U.S. markets, CoinDesk said, as Nasdaq 100 index futures slipped 1.1% and Treasury bond yields rose alongside higher oil prices.
BTC fell about 0.6% since midnight UTC, while Ether was down about 1% to around $1,897, CoinDesk reported, with several other tokens including SUI, XLM, and TAO also moving lower.
CoinDesk pointed to two key catalysts due Wednesday, the release of the Federal Reserve’s July 28 to 29 FOMC meeting minutes and a White House meeting expected to include President Donald Trump and crypto industry executives, while noting Brent crude rose back to about $94 per barrel after the 60-day U.S.-Iran ceasefire expired without an agreement.
