Builders shift to prefabrication to speed up data center delivery
DPR Construction cited a Texas data center completed in 13 months, attributing faster timelines to upfront design work and prefabricated components.
Bisnow reports that developers increasingly view prefabrication as a speed advantage rather than solely a cost-saving approach as they pursue faster delivery for data centers, student housing, and multifamily projects.
According to the outlet, builders are moving away from traditional site sequencing toward modular components and preengineered systems that can cut months off project timelines. DPR Construction’s Chris Neufeld said the company completed a data center project in Texas using prefabricated components, and described its ability to deliver at record speed.
Bisnow adds that DPR finished the project in 13 months, and Neufeld attributed the acceleration to upfront design time and computational design work that helps avoid starting from scratch on each project.
The article also says Clark Pacific shifted to precast solutions to speed up data center development, noting that the pivot was supported by a decade of manufacturing precast structures for life sciences, which enabled a quicker adaptation to mission-critical construction needs.
