Southern Land names Highland Homes veteran Tony Marchbanks national president

Marchbanks brings 34 years of experience, including overseeing a roughly 4,000-home-per-year operation in Texas, as Southern Land targets a pipeline of more than 5,000 lots and an $8 billion portfolio.

Southern Land Company has hired Tony Marchbanks, a longtime executive at Highland Homes, to lead its homebuilding platform as national president of homebuilding, the company announced Monday, HousingWire reports.

Marchbanks will oversee homebuilding operations across land development, construction, purchasing, sales, and architecture as Southern Land scales its master-planned communities in Tennessee, Texas, and Colorado. The company said it currently has four active master-planned communities in those states, with more than 5,000 lots under ownership and development.

The appointment comes as Southern Land advances a pipeline of more than 5,000 lots and an $8 billion project portfolio. Company leadership said Marchbanks’ Texas homebuilding experience is expected to support plans to grow the national pipeline, including in existing Texas communities and newer markets.

At Highland Homes, Marchbanks spent 34 years, including launching the builder’s Houston division and growing it to about 1,000 homes a year. He later oversaw statewide operations producing more than 4,000 luxury homes annually, and he said Southern Land’s focus on master-planned communities and customer experience was a key draw, HousingWire reports.
