Chinese AI co-founder reportedly buys $70m Bay Area mansion
The reported Hillsborough, California estate covers 12 acres and includes a private nine-hole golf course and a 2,100-gallon saltwater aquarium.
Chinese social media discussions have been sparked after Tony Wu Yuhuai, a China-born co-founder of Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence lab, was reported to have spent US$70 million on a six-bedroom mega-mansion in California.
According to SCMP Economy, Wu was reported as the buyer of a 12-acre (4.8 hectare) estate in Hillsborough, an affluent area near Silicon Valley, citing a prior report by The San Francisco Standard.
The luxury property is described as including a private nine-hole golf course, a 150-seat outdoor amphitheatre, and a 2,100-gallon saltwater aquarium, among other amenities.
SCMP Economy added that Wu, who left xAI earlier this year, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
