J&W Gold Institute creates Historic Home Specialist credential for agents
The program covers preservation, historic valuation, incentives and regulatory compliance, and its inaugural cohort has completed the training.
J&W Gold Institute, the professional education arm of Johnson & Wilson Real Estate Company, launched a Historic Home Specialist designation aimed at agents and brokers who work in historic districts and represent landmark properties, HousingWire reports.
The curriculum is based on the institute’s Historic Property Mastery Series and includes preservation principles, historic valuation methods, federal and state preservation incentives, regulatory compliance, design review processes and marketing strategies tailored to historic homes.
J&W Gold Institute said its first cohort has completed the program, positioning the designation as a specialized education standard for historic property representation and preservation-focused practice.
The institute said it developed the coursework in Charleston, and plans to adapt it for historic communities across the country as it expands through additional cohorts, advanced classes and continuing education where applicable.
