Atlas VMS buys First Appraisal Management to expand in Texas
The acquisition adds access to Atlas LoanShield and AIM-Port order management for FAM clients, with FAM managing partner Nicole Bookout moving into a new EVP role.
Atlas VMS has acquired Houston-based First Appraisal Management (FAM), an appraiser-owned appraisal management company serving lenders and brokers across Texas, according to HousingWire. The deal expands Atlas VMS’s local appraisal coverage while adding a team with existing lender relationships in the state.
FAM clients will be able to use Atlas LoanShield, the firm’s appraisal warranty program, and AIM-Port, Atlas VMS’s enterprise order management platform, while continuing to work with the existing FAM team in Texas. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
As part of the acquisition, FAM managing partner Nicole Bookout will become executive vice president of appraisal operations at Atlas VMS, overseeing appraisal operations across the company and continuing direct work with existing clients and appraisers.
HousingWire noted the transaction comes as lenders and appraisal management companies balance localized valuation expertise with pressure to modernize workflows and reduce turn times and costs. The story also highlights Texas as a large and competitive mortgage market, where reliable appraisal coverage and technology-enabled fulfillment remain a priority for lenders originating and servicing loans.
