AXA XL appoints Matt Waters to lead Large Commercial and Specialty
Waters will oversee AXA XL’s Large Commercial and Specialty lines portfolio across the U.S., Canada, and Bermuda, with an emphasis on underwriting discipline and broker and client relationships.
AXA XL has appointed Matt Waters as head of its Large Commercial and Specialty business unit, effective immediately, according to Risk & Insurance.
In the role, Waters will lead AXA XL’s Large Commercial and Specialty lines portfolio across the U.S., Canada, and Bermuda, with a focus on driving profitable growth, enhancing underwriting discipline, and strengthening broker and client relationships across North America.
Risk & Insurance reports that Waters joined AXA XL in 2022 to launch its Mid-Market business in the Americas, where he exceeded growth expectations while maintaining rigorous underwriting discipline.
The outlet also said Jim DiVirgilio, AXA XL’s recently retired chief claims officer, will temporarily lead the Mid-Market team while the insurer searches for new leadership.
