Chinese tourist site hires paid mist ‘cloudscape observer’ for a month
The Laojun Mountain Scenic Area paid 60,000 yuan for the July 16 to August 15 role, asking the worker to observe the sea of clouds and post daily videos.
A Chinese tourist site in Henan province has ended a month-long paid position focused on observing misty mountain views and sharing videos online, according to SCMP Economy.
The Laojun Mountain Scenic Area, a Taoist destination known for its thick low-lying mist, advertised the “cloudscape observer” role starting July 8 and ran it from July 16 to August 15.
The job paid 60,000 yuan, about US$8,900, for the mountaintop stay and daily video updates about the cloudscape, SCMP Economy reported.
The attraction, which SCMP Economy describes as a 5A-level tourist site, is also noted as being closed to foreigners due to its proximity to a military base.
