Einride to deploy 500 Tesla electric trucks for North American fleet
The Sweden-based freight technology company said the rollout starts in September 2026 and runs in phases through 2028, supported by third-party financing.
Einride AB plans to deploy 500 Tesla electric trucks across its North American operations over the next two years, calling it the largest heavy-duty electric vehicle rollout to date, according to Reuters.
The company said the deployment begins in September 2026 and will be completed in phases through 2028, expanding service across freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia. Einride also said it expects the move to support customers including Amazon.
Einride said the effort would be financed through third-party solutions and that its AI-based monitoring system has logged more than 19 million electric miles globally over seven years of commercial operations.
Reuters also reported that Einride aims to convert about $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue into active freight capacity. Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli said the deployment shows the company can scale to meet customer demand, while Tesla semi-truck director Dan Priestley said electric trucks can lower operating costs through fuel savings, reduced maintenance and improved uptime.
