Progressive to place logos on 13 college football fields this fall
The NCAA’s recent permission for football sponsorship revenue is expanding, with uniform patch deals expected to range from $500,000 to more than $12 million annually.
Progressive will expand its marketing footprint this fall by placing its logo on 13 college football fields, including venues at Ole Miss, Georgia, Oregon, USC, Boise State, Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas State, Purdue, SMU, Syracuse, Texas Tech and Wake Forest, according to Insurance Journal.
The outlet said the companies’ deal terms were not disclosed, though news coverage cited a typical going rate of about $3.5 million a year for corporate logos on major college football fields, with some schools commanding as much as $15 million.
Progressive’s Georgia relationship includes field logos, along with signage and social media placements, and it noted that last season Delta Air Lines had a logo painted on the turf near the 20-yard line at Georgia’s Dooley Field.
Insurance Journal also pointed to broader changes in college sports sponsorship rules, saying the NCAA allowed colleges to contract for commercial sponsorship of football fields starting in 2024, and opened uniform patch sponsorship, with uniform deals expected to range from $500,000 to more than $12 million annually.
