a.s.r. operating result rises 9.8% in first half 2026
Net profit attributable to equity holders climbed to €809 million from €126 million in H1 2025, helped by positive market developments and real estate revaluations.
Dutch insurer ASR Nederland N.V., known as a.s.r., reported a 9.8% increase in its first half 2026 operating result to €901 million, citing broad-based performance across its business segments and completion of its Aegon Nederland integration, according to Reinsurance News.
Net profit attributable to equity holders rose to €809 million from €126 million in H1 2025, supported by positive market developments and real estate revaluations. a.s.r. also said its operating return on equity increased to 15.4% from 14.2% a year earlier, exceeding its target of greater than 12%.
In fee-based businesses, the operating result totaled €115 million, up 32.1% from €87 million in H1 2025, driven by improved results across underlying units and the acquisition of HumanTotalCare. For the Non-life segment, the operating result increased 4.6% to €268 million, and the combined ratio improved to 91.6%, better than the 92-94% target range.
The insurer reported that the life segment’s operating result rose 11.6% to €689 million, while defined contribution assets under management increased to €34.1 million from €30.0 million at year-end 2025. Total Life inflow fell 49.0% to €2,712 million, a decline attributed to lower pension buy-out activity.
