Apollo Global says data breach exposed personal information in July

The breach involved unauthorized access to certain cloud platforms from July 6 to July 10, and Apollo said it has not found evidence of public posting or identity theft misuse.

Apollo Global Management said it suffered a data breach last month in which hackers gained unauthorized access to certain cloud platforms and stole some personal information, according to a letter dated Friday.

The asset manager said its investigation found the intrusion occurred between July 6 and July 10. Apollo reported that potentially impacted data included names, dates of birth, contact information, home addresses, and social security numbers.

The company said it notified law enforcement and brought in outside cybersecurity and forensic experts to investigate. It also said the affected individuals are being offered complimentary third-party identity protection and credit monitoring services.

Apollo said its investigation is still ongoing and that it has not found evidence that the stolen information has been publicly posted or used for identity theft or fraud.
