Hang Seng Index set to add Hua Hong, Kingboard, and Zijin Gold
The index compiler’s quarterly review results are due after the close on Friday, with changes starting Sept. 7 and the rest rolling out by Sept. 14.
Hang Seng Indexes Co. is considering adding three companies to the Hang Seng equity benchmark, including chipmaker Hua Hong Grace Semiconductor Ltd., AI-related firm Kingboard Laminates Holdings Ltd., and miner Zijin Gold International Co., according to analysts cited by LiveMint Markets.
Hang Seng Indexes will publish the quarterly review results after the market close on Friday, with some adjustments taking effect on Sept. 7 and remaining changes implemented by Sept. 14. The rebalance is closely tracked as a signal of which stocks are performing across key metrics such as market capitalization and turnover, and inclusion can also draw flows from index-tracking funds.
LiveMint Markets reports that Hua Hong Grace Semiconductor is expected to attract about $184 million in passive inflows if added, the largest amount among potential entrants. Its shares are up more than 50% this year, outperforming an onshore peer measure.
For Kingboard Laminates, Quiddity Research analyst Janaghan Jeyakumar pointed to the stock as a top industrial pick, citing the sector as underrepresented versus the Hang Seng Composite Index. Analysts also flagged Zijin Gold as a contender on market cap grounds, while Bloomberg Intelligence analysts led by Jason Liao cautioned that its free float is under 15%, which could limit inclusion.
Hang Seng Indexes also plans to expand the gauge to 100 members from 93, and is seeking feedback by Sept. 18 on a planned revamp of the Hang Seng Tech Index to add more companies tied to AI and robotics, with final revisions targeted for end of next month.
