Marsh appoints James Lean to lead UK transportation and logistics risk
Lean will focus on advising UK transport and logistics clients on operational, financial, and regulatory risks, drawing on prior leadership experience at Barclays Corporate Banking.
Marsh has appointed James Lean as its new UK Transportation & Logistics Industry Leader within Marsh Risk, effective immediately. Based in London, Lean will report to Charles Beresford-Davies, Marsh’s UK Industries Leader, and will help set and deliver Marsh’s strategy for the UK transport and logistics sector.
Lean’s role will center on supporting clients as they respond to operational, financial, and regulatory risks. Marsh said he will coordinate expertise across its risk, insurance, data, analytics, and advisory operations to provide sector-focused advice and solutions.
His work will include helping transportation and logistics businesses assess emerging risks, improve resilience, and support broader business objectives. Marsh also said the sector faces supply chain complexity and regulatory change.
Lean joins Marsh after two decades at Barclays Corporate Banking, where he held multiple leadership positions. Since 2020, he has co-led Barclays’ UK Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics team, advising senior executives on areas including business transformation, growth, and risk management.
