Ascendis Pharma says rare-disease portfolio revenue nearly doubled in Q2
Second-quarter total product revenue rose to about €315 million, and management pointed to all three TransCon therapies contributing sales in the same quarter.
Ascendis Pharma (ASND) reported second-quarter results showing its rare-disease portfolio gaining momentum, with total product revenue roughly doubling year over year to about €315 million, according to Yahoo Finance. For the first time, management said all three of its approved TransCon therapies, SKYTROFA, YORVIPATH, and YUVIWEL, were contributing meaningful sales in the same quarter. YORVIPATH generated €252 million, reached patients in more than 35 countries through commercial sales or named patient access programs, and long-term trial data presented during the quarter indicated response rates sustained between 82% and 86% on a combined endpoint, with 95% of patients still on therapy five years after starting. SKYTROFA, a once-weekly growth hormone therapy, crossed 20,000 unique patient enrollments and brought in €55 million for the quarter. YUVIWEL, launched commercially in the US during the quarter, generated €8 million in its first quarter on the market, with enrollment rising after quarter end from more than 170 unique patients through June 30 to more than 220 by the end of July, and more than 65% of patients already approved for reimbursement, Yahoo Finance added. Ascendis ended the quarter with €812 million in cash and reported no bank debt or convertible debt. The company also outlined a higher cost base, with SG&A rising to €173 million in the quarter from €145 million in the prior quarter, and R&D climbing to €76 million from €59 million, while reported operating profit of €220 million reflected a one-time €158 million PRV sale gain.
